Submarines, France and dancing!!

So, this morning at 9:15am, I got all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled!! I haven't really been feeling good all day and have yet been able to keep any kind of food/liquid down, but I'm sure that will pass and I'll be eating chips again in no time!
I was amazed at how fast I was out when they put my IV in. I just remember the doctor injecting the drugs and the nurse putting oxygen over my nose and than it was over. I dont' remember walking from the room into the recovery area, but my mom was waiting there and apparently I was talking about being on a submarine. The nurse had told my mom not to let me fall asleep and I had to sit on the bed against the wall. I guess I started to close my eyes, so my mom said 'Nikki, don't fall asleep', and I pleasantly responed with 'Screw off!'...oops!! I then proceeded to talk about being in France and how I wanted to go dancing while singing along to the song playing on the radio. I just remember really wanting to lie down on the bed, and I vaguely remember this, but I pointed and said to my mom 'Mom, what's that over there?' She looked, and I sneakily started to lie down while laughing and saying 'tricked ya'. Later mom was telling me all this and we had some good laughs!

WhAt A bEauTIfuL DAy!!

Today was such a good day I thought I'd share it with you all! I started off by sleeping in (and in doing so, not going to church...) which was great because I've been staying up way too late lately and I definitely needed the sleep. Then my mom and I decided to do some pilates. I got a DVD out of the cereal box awhile ago and I thought I'd give it a try. Now...if you have never done pilates, it is hard! I wasn't expecting it be so hard and such a good workout, but boy was I wrong! I had to stop and just sit there and watch for a good portion of it because there is no way my body moves like theirs do, and I couldn't hold the movements for as long as they wanted me to. But it was fun, and I'll definitely give it another try!

Then I went for a bike ride with my friend Sarah. We both hadn't been biking in so long so we thought we'd go for it and it was a perfect day for it...not too hot! We biked for probably a good 45 minutes, stopped at Charles Daly Park for awhile and then headed back. It felt great to be outside and get some exercise!!

After our superfantastic bike ride, I went to go visit Jon at his house. He was ripping apart the kitchen and rerouting some wires. I thought he'd probably be hungry and being the great sister than I am, I brought him some supper! I took some pictures of his house so I will post them very soon.

After that I went home, relaxed a little and then went to my friend Robyn's house and watched Pride and Prejudice. If anyone has not seen this movie, please go rent it!! It's so great! So, that was my day...pretty great if you ask me.

Summer Days.

Well, what better way to start the month of August than with 50 degree Celcius weather!! I never thought I'd see the day...o.k., so the actual temperature was 36, but with the humidity it was 50...50!! That's just crazy to me. I was inside all day so I can't say I really experienced the 50 degree weather, but I was still disgusted by it.
So, summer is just flying by and I can't say that I've really done a whole lot. It's been good though to just relax and have time to read a good book. This past weekend Hillary and Mike came to visit me and we had a fun day. I introduced them to this ice cream shop called Toute Sweet...it's similar to The Marble Slab in the States. It has the best ice cream.

I also went to Kitchener for a joint family shower for Jon & Heather and for Claire at my aunts house. It was also the first family get-together since my grandma passed away, so it was sad in that aspect, but it was a fun day.
Both Jon & Heather and Claire got lots of nice gifts.

Jon & Heather got their house last Friday which is so crazy but exciting. I went to see it on Saturday while Jon and his friend Keith were tearing apart the dining room and knocking out a wall. It needs a lot of work, but it's a cute house and will look great when it's done. I'll try to get some pics posted soon. I still can't believe Jonny's moving out soon...I try not to think about it cause it will be so wierd when he's gone and it's just me and the parents. Anyways, there's a little update about my happenings.

I love my niece!!

Here is yet another picture of Claire! It seems like I only post pictures of her now, but i just can't help myself because she's so cute! Corrie and Claire were at our house for 3 days while Brent was away on business and it was fabulous. It seems wierd now that she's not here because it's quiet in the house and there's no baby to hold anymore. It was fun to have them here...even being woken up in the middle of the night to a crying (actually screaming!!) baby. But i loved it! I wish they didn't live an hour and a half away so i could see them more often, but i guess they could live a lot further, so I guess i should be thankful for that.

Here are some pics from B.C.!!! It was amazing! We had the best week in B.C. and had some fun adventures along the way. The highlight was probably going bungy jumping and watching Amber go bungy jumping...I'll never forget it, and I was so proud of her for actually doing it. Other than bungy jumping, we also biked around Stanley Park on a tandem bike (which was an adventure in itself!!), had fun trying to figure out the city buses in downtown Vancouver, did some shopping in downtown Vancouver, and hung out with Steve!
The wedding was also wonderful! Colin and Nicki both looked awesome and the day was perfect. So, overall, it was a fabulous week and a very enjoyable vacation!!

She's getting so big!!

Claire Noelle-3 1/2 weeks old!!

B.C. here I come!!

So, I'm off to beautiful British Columbia today for a week!! I'm so excited and really looking forward to my vacation. I'm going to Colin and Nicki's wedding which is on July 3 in Abbotsford and also doing a little exploring around Vancouver and Nanaimo with my good friend Amber. It should definitely be an adventure!
Nothing else is too new with me, so i'll leave it at that. I'm sure i'll have some fun stories to post when i get home!

Claire Noelle

Well, I am officially an aunt!! My sister had her baby yesterday at 1:00 AM and had a girl. They named her Claire Noelle. She was 7 pounds and is a healthy baby. Everyone is doing great and I went to visit them tonight and Claire is such a sweetheart. I am very excited to be Auntie Nikki!!

Why I love SUMMER!!

Hammocks!! That is one of the many reasons why I love summer. And unfortunately this hammock belongs to my brother (arghh) and will be taken from me when he moves out, so i've decided that i must make the most of every opportunity i have to use it. So, that is what i did today. I laid outside in the hammock and read pretty much all day, and it was fabulous!

Some other reasons why i love summer:

1. Iced tea...my mom makes her own and it's the best ever.

2. Flip-flops...i don't think i need to explain that one.

3. Toasted tomato sandwiches...especially when the tomatoes come from my garden, but as of right now i've been enjoying tomatoes from the grocery store and they've been very good.

4. Swimming...my neighbours just opened their pool last week which i'm very excited about. I have yet to go in it, but soon...very soon.

5. BBQ's...good food, good friends, good fellowship...what more could you ask for.

6. Summer nights...when the temperature is just perfect and still warm even at mignight.

7. Vacations/cottages

8. All the people/neighbours out and about...walking, biking, rollerblading, it just makes me happy.

9. Beaches...and especially the smell of sun tan lotion and that sleepy feeling you get after you've been at the beach all day.

10. Ice cream...and especially ice cream with fresh peaches!!

I could probably name a few more favourites, but i'll leave it at that.

I'm getting a sister in-law!!!

Yep, that's right...my little brother is getting married!! It's all very exciting and they are super excited about it and it's so fun to watch them start planning everything. Jonny & Heather got engaged on Sat. May 6th in Toronto and her ring is absolutely gorgeous (good job Jon!!). We all knew it was coming but Jon did a good job in hiding things lately even with me bugging him all the time! I still can't believe he's getting married, but i'm really happy for them and excited about the whole thing. I just thought i'd share that with everyone because it makes me happy!!

Finally...a new post!!

So, it's now May and school is done for the year. Well, i am taking one summer course, so i'm not technically done, but i consider myself done since the class i'm taking should be fairly easy. I start work next week at the Agriculture Research Station (experimental farm) for yet another summer, but this will be my last summer there because next year i'll have to actually find a real job...kinda scary, but it still seems so far away so i won't think about that just yet.

On a sad note, my grandma passed away this past weekend and her funeral was this week. It was very sudden and shocking, but at least she didn't have to suffer which is what everybody prayed for, so in a way it was a good thing.

I don't have too much more to write about. I've been very lazy lately and don't have much to show for all the time i've had off. But i guess that's ok...it happens sometimes right? Anyways, i'll be sure to write something if anything exciting happens. Right now i'm going to go watch The Price is Right...which is one of my favourite shows and someday i will be on it!! Bye.

SpRiNG iS HeRE!!

Well, today was a beautiful day!! The weather was fantastic and i had nothing to do. So, you would think that i would spend the day outside, but no...i decided to bake cookies. But it was a good decision because i enjoyed myself and i enjoy cookies, so what a great combination! Here is a picture of my cookies...you may think that's silly that i'm putting a picture of my cookies but they took me all afternoon and i quite enjoy how they turned out, so i thought i'd share them with all of you...well the picture, if you actually want a cookie, you'll have to come visit me.
That's about all i did today, other than going to Wal-mart and buying some things that i probably didn't need...but i'm sure i'll make use of someday!!
O.k. then, i'm off...have a superfantastic day and a happy Easter!!

School and what not...

Well, my first exam is over and done with!! I wrote my 'anthropological perspectives on violence' exam yesterday night and i'm so glad that class is over forever!! I wasn't a fan of the class and to be honest, didn't really care about it (which would explain my somewhat bad mark...) but now i don't have to think about it. I have my next exam on April 20th, so i have awhile before i have to start studying for that one.

Today, i went to a baby shower for my friend Steph and the majority of the people there were married and had kids or were pregnant, so i felt a little out of place, but it was fun anyways. They made us play a game where we had to get into teams and one person had to be the model, and then the team had to use toilet paper and make a diaper on the model...and then the diaper models had to do a little fashion show around the room. Anyways, to make it funnier, i was the model for my group and so i had to strut my stuff in front of these ladies i don't know, wearing a toilet paper diaper while dancing/model walking to this funny music. It was funny!!

Other than that, not too much is going on right now. I start work on May 1...back at the good old research station for yet another summer!! And i booked my flight to B.C. for Colin's wedding in July, so i'm superexcited about that. Anyways...that's all for now, i'm off to bed.

I know, I know...it's been awhile!!

So, it's been a long time since i've posted anything...i realize that, but when nothing is happening in my life it's hard for me to post anything because i just sit at the computer not knowing what to write.

But anyways, today I went to Missionfest in Toronto which is a big conference type thing with lots of different mission organizations like orphanges and overseas missions, and it made me very excited because i hope one day i'll make it to Romania to work in an orphanage. Then after Missionfest, i went to my Grandma and Grandpas with my family for supper, and then we went to Corrie and Brents house afterwards to see the room they're getting ready for the baby!! I can't wait until i'm an aunt, i'm so excited. Only 3 months left!!

My sis 6 months pregnant.

And...the strike is over!! So, i can finally go back to school on Tuesday. To be honest, i was hoping we would just be able to go into next year without making any school up, but i guess that's a little unrealistic. So, it's back to waking up early again!! I guess it's good though, i was just enjoying not having a lot of homework and being able to sleep in a little.

Well, that's all for now...tomorrow i have a ton of homework to do that i've been neglecting over the past few weeks, and then it's the start of another busy week. Bye everybody!

Here are some pictures from the Rascal Flatts concert I went to way back on Feb. 12...it was sooo much fun, and the pictures don't show how amazing it was, but trust me it was the best!!

The Real World is Funny!!

So, i know i haven't written anything in a few days, and Brier is threatening me again, so here it goes. Right now, my teachers decided to go on strike, so i have no classes (except for my McMaster classes), and i have to miss the hospital, which by the way isn't as bad as i thought it would be. I kinda like it but now can't go...so hopefully this strike business doesn't last too long!!

This past weekend was the youth retreat for the youth group I help out with. We went up north to Camp Crossroads and had some good old fun and fellowship, played lots of euchre and had some fun in the snow.

This is the supercool tube run they made at camp...good times!!

These are some supercool girls from my youth group!!

(Kendall, Julia, Lauren & Megan)

Other than the youth retreat I haven't been up to anything too exciting lately. Last week my friend Steve was home from B.C. for a few days, so Heather, Dan, Renita, Steve and myself all went out for dinner and then to Dan & Renita's to watch Amazing Race. I'm so excited that Amazing Race is on again...it's probably my favourite show and makes me just want to go on adventures. My brother and I really wish it was open to Canadians because then we would enter and we would probably win too...so we think, but it would be so much fun!!

Well, i think that's about all the excitement I can think of to share with you all. I"m still waiting for those pictures from our girls country night out, but i'll post them as soon they are sent to me. Have a great day everybody!!

Back to the real world!!

Well, my reading break is officially over and i'm back to my busy life starting tomorrow (at 5:00 am). Hospital days are so early and so tiring, and i'm not even working 12 hour shifts yet...what am i getting myself into!! No, i'm just kidding, i love the hospital, and tomorrow i start on a new ward. I'll be working on the spinal cord trauma ward which actually scares me a little because you can't really move people too much and they're in tons of pain, but it should be a great learning experience!!

My week off was so fabulous and so relaxing, i'm having a hard time getting motivated again to do homework. I didn't do much all week and now i have to make up for it. My week consisted of sleeping in until 10 most days, watching Ellen and the PRice is Right...and then just doing nothing. Friday night some girls decided it would be fun to have a country night...so we all went out line dancing and had a great old time. We even had the pleasure of two-stepping with this guy who was really good and just threw us around the dance floor...it was so funny because none of us knew what to do (except Heather!!). I will post some pictures of our country night soon!!

Well, i think that's all i have to say for now!

Mia Grace

Today i went to visit my friend Sara, and her baby Mia (isn't she cute!!). We had a great day. I am on my reading week, which is why i wasn't in school today (in case anyone was wondering!!)

I'll have to be honest...i'm kinda enjoying this blog thing!! And i really like when people write comments, it makes my day. So, thanks to those who wrote comments and keep em coming!!
